Fish Sampling Procedure

  • Electro shocking fish over about 1000 feet of the stream using 2 probes.
  • Capturing fish with nets.
  • Clipping tail fin.
  • Measuring and recording length & species.
  • Releasing fish; and thereafter
  • Repeating entire process one hour later recording the same data but noting new fish versus fish with clipped fins.

2019 July Fish Sampling Highlights

  • A total of 68 brown trout were caught.
  • Average length of the brown trout was 8.3”.
  • (4) 14” brown trout were caught.
  • (6) rainbow trout were caught.
  • Several 2” to 3” trout were caught indicating natural reproduction.
  • Brown trout population is estimated to be 120 per acre or 460 per mile.
