May 8, 2013 (Wednesday wRain Date May 9th) - Salmon in the Classroom Release -Instructor Jon Gray and his students from Lake Orion Middle School will be releasing their salmon at Yates Park on the Clinton.  These salmon were raised by the students under the watchful eye of their instructor as part of the Vanguard supported Salmon In the Classroom (SIC) project. Jon Gray was the first Vanguard-supported teacher and was an area pioneer in the SIC.  Expect the group to arrive about 10:00 AM.  Vanguard members are invited to join the group to help with the release and stream monitoring. This is a great opportunity to see our previous investment pay dividends!

May 9, 2013 (Thursday) - General Membership Meeting -Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve (333 North Hill Circle, Rochester, MI 48307) @ 7:30 PM. Speaker:Stan Roland, VG Board member will present about fishing streamer flies.  Since larger fish often eat smaller fish, learning the fine points of streamer fishing can be very rewarding.

May 11, 2013 (Saturday) - Family Fishing Event - The folks from Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve with the help of Vanguard members will be holding their annual event. This event will be held at the Rochester Municipal Park Pond in downtown Rochester.  Adult fishing assistance will be required from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.  Contact Larry Walla, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. May 17 -  May 19, 2013 (Fri-Sun) - Vanguard Fun Raiser weekend at Riverview Lodge & Cabins. Located on the Au Sable at McMaster Bridge, this great facility provides a perfect fishing and fun base for the entire area.  This outing is now full with a total of 29 persons attending. There are no Vanguard Chapter General Membership Meetings in the months of July or August. General Membership meetings will resume in September.

We will, however, hold other events and outings, so check this calendar regularly during the summer if you don't want to be left out!
