November 10^th (Thursday) General Membership Meeting - Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve (333 North Hill Circle, Rochester, Michigan 48307) @ 7:30PM Speaker: Terry Drinkwine, blogger extraordinaire on terrydrinkwineoutdoors.com, outdoor writer for The Macomb Daily News & Royal Oak Daily Tribune, Recording Secretary for Michigan Fly Fishing Club, employee at The Orvis Company-Royal Oak store, Royal Oak City Commissioner, and a Vanguard Chapter member since 1989! Terry will be talking about fishing the Jordan River. The Jordan River is in the southern part of Charlevoix County and centrally located in Antrim County with salmon, steelhead and resident trout in great numbers. We will also have a short presentation by Tony Palmeri, a middle school science teacher, 7th grade, in the Avondale District. He will tell us about their SIC program. Finally, the November meeting is elections night. That should take about 30 seconds, seriously.

August 5^th-7^th Chapter Annual Black River Work Weekend on the Upper Black River. DETAILS TO FOLLOW (Larry Walla)

August 16, 2011 - After canceling the July fly fishing night (see above), let's try to fish Paint Creek in August. We are going to fish Paint Creek at Silver Bell Road. There is a small parking lot just west of Orion Road. We'll start about 7:00PM. If you are late we will probably be in the stream north of Silver Bell. If you are really late, just join us at the Paint creek Tavern and we'll tell you what you missed. Bring bead head nymphs, woolly buggers and terrestrials.  Also bring bug spray - the mosquitos are out with a vengeance. Beers at Paint Creek Tavern afterwards.

August 25^th Board Meeting at Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve @ 7:30PM. We will discuss the 2011/2012 Chapter Calendar of Events.

June 2^nd General Membership Meeting starting at 6:30PM sharp. Dave Leonhard, owner of Streamside Orvis in Traverse City, will be holding a casting clinic. Dave is a FFF Certified Master Casting Instructor. He is a wonderful teacher with the ability to cast ambidextrously correctly and, of teaching purposes, incorrectly! This gives him the ability to imitate for students exactly what they do incorrectly while demonstrating the correct technique. This special meeting will be held at the Rochester Municipal Park Adjacent to the Kiwanis Pavilion. Remember, this is Thursday, June 2nd.
